This is the average cryptocurrency investor in Spain


It is often assumed that the average cryptocurrency investor in Spain is a young man in his twenties, who studies and / or works part-time, investing a large part of his income or savings in these activities. However, a report from the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) revealed the truth.

The report, based on responses from 1,500 people in the general population aged 16 to 70, found that 3 out of 4 people in Spain have at least heard of the existence of cryptocurrencies, while only 1.4% of the general population know much about the subject and 24% admit to ignorance.

Furthermore, 68% of those who are informed know that there are risks such as loss of capital, fraud or high volatility. Meanwhile, less than 7% say they have ever invested cryptocurrenciesbut 83% have not and will not.

The average Spanish investor would be a 39-year-old man (66%) with a university degree (43.3%) who earns more than € 3,000 per month (41%) and generally invests less than 5% of his capital (50%). . The same profile claims to be aware that cryptocurrencies carry a greater risk than other products (66.3%) and that they are neither regulated nor supervised (44.7%).

The CNMV study, on the other hand, concludes that half invest when prices fall or when they are available, 4 out of 10 have invested in the past and one in 10 do so regularly. The most weighted age groups are 35-44 (35.7%), 25-34 (27.7%) and 45-54 (20%).
